Can you change modems

I think it is model It has ran ok, for about 5 years Looks like it has a lot of plus to it. I have 2 desktops and 2 laptops running on my present system. Can I just switch the wires from the old modem to the new modem and be ok? Just curious if there is some sort of deep learning curve when replacing a modem with passwords,etc.
